Building a swale or dry creek

A swale or a dry creek are shallow ditches structures that carry water to a designated collection area. They are ideal for keeping water from collecting in low area of your yard. A dry creek is filled with stone to create a visually appealing landscape feature, however, a swale is covered with sod and usually is unseen in the landscape. A dry creek bed needs to be curved through your yard in order to create visual appeal, usually, it is half as deep as it is wide. It is important that the end of the water route will be located at the lowest point of the trench.
