Mantels

 

There is no specific rule dictating that every built in fireplace should have a mantel. Mantels can be made of any rigid material such as oak, granite, marble, slate etc. it is recommended that all wood mantels will have a set back from the fireplace opening edges to keep the wood from catching fire.
