The minimum power supply recommended for a modern house is a three wire 240-volt, 200-amperes service -that would be enough for a house with central air conditioning, swimming pool pumps, cooking ranges and clothes dryer. The main electrical service splits into separate circuits at the circuit box. 12-15 circuits are required to handle the average modern home needs. The wiring should be grounded properly, it will allow electricity to safely travel from a defective appliance, tool, outlet, fixture, or other component to the earth or ground.
