How To Use Mosaic Tiles On Bathroom Walls

If you love the look of tiles and are remodeling your bathroom, you should know that there are a wide range of different decorating choices to pick from. Whether you like travertine tiles or marble tiles, subway tiles or mosaic tiles, each are equally suitable for use in bathrooms. Keep in mind that some tiles, such as mosaic tiles, are better used on walls or as accents. Here are a few suggestions. You can choose all one shape and size of tile for use on walls and floors.

Travertine tiles are great choices for use in a bathroom since they are durable and are colored all the way through the thickness of the tile. This prevents any chips from showing like a ceramic tile might. You may find that a beautiful look is several rows of square or rectangular tiles with a band of mosaic tiles for an accent. One popular look is to use larger travertine tiles on the floor with a band or accent of mosaic tiles around the outside of the room. You can also choose to set single mosaic tiles in the middle of groupings of larger travertine tiles.

Bathroom Mosaic Tiles Design

Since mosaic tiles are small and are often set on a mesh backing, you can cut as few or as many tiles as you need to fill an area. This means that if you are doing a band of mosaic tiles, you can get more than one banding piece out of a single sheet. You can also look at taking out individual mosaic tiles and putting in one that is a complimentary or contrasting color. You can also tile an entire area with mosaic tiles.

Travertine tiles can be fantastic since they are very durable. Travertine tiles are available in a range of different colors from pale to strongly colored. They are also available in a range of sizes including 1” by 1” travertine tiles, 2” x 2” travertine tiles and even rectangular mosaic tiles that are either 1” x 2” or 2” x 4”. Different sizes are excellent because they allow you to vary the look and find one that suits you the best.

Mosaic tiles are often easier to use than other tiles because they do come on a fiber sheet that can be cut to size. The parts that are cut away can be reused on a different portion of the wall. Once the tile adhesive has dried and the mosaic tiles have adhered to the wall, you can apply grout as a way to finish the tiles. Remember to clean the grout off of the surface of the tiles before it has dried.

You may have realized that even after making the decision to tile your bathroom, the decisions are not yet over. You need to think about the shape and size of the tiles from mosaic tiles to large square floor tiles. Deciding what material you want to use such as travertine tiles can make it possible for you to get a range of looks from classic to contemporary.
