Make faucets sparkle. Hard water stains that quickly build up on sink faucets mask the shine of the silver. For a quick touch up when guests drop in unexpectedly, rub the faucet with a cloth soaked in vinegar. You will be surprised how much brighter and cleaner the whole sink area will look.

Update the countertop decor. Decorative items can look old when you are facing them day after day. Find something from another room in your home to replace existing décor. A single interesting object can add a punch of color and style, like an elegant table lamp or a beautiful vase.

Introduce a new scent. A fresh scent wafting through the bathroom gives your senses a pleasant pick-me-up. Get a new air freshener or aromatherapy candle. Alternatively, place a bowl of scented soaps next to the sink.

Purchase new towels. Are your towels looking faded and unraveled? It may be time to purchase thick fluffy ones that add a feeling of luxury for little cost. Try coordinating your new towel color with a new shower curtain, which will instantly update your bathroom’s appearance.

Change wall pictures. The look of your walls can easily be changed by replacing a large colorful print with a cluster of small black and white photographs, for example. Or hang up a decorative wooden plaque, a unique wall clock, or a framed verse of poetry.

Add a bold rug. If your bathroom is looking plain and boring, a rug in a bold color or design may be just the thing to add spark. Rugs with zebra or leopard patterns are fun and can be coordinated with any room color. Or select a rug in a color that is vividly set off by the main color in the bathroom.

Keep up with organization. Clutter that is getting out of hand can be simply dealt with by storing items in an over-the-door organizer or on a wall shelf. When the countertops are clear and clean, the whole bathroom looks fresher.

Add mirrors to cabinet doors. A simple decorating project that you can do yourself is to attach unframed rectangular mirrors to the bathroom cabinet doors with strong craft glue. This will glam up and add brightness to the room.

Change the shower curtain liner. Vinyl shower curtain liners get dirty with mold and mildew every few months. If you don’t want the hassle of cleaning it, a new one can be purchased for a few dollars and makes a big difference to the health and cleanliness of the bathroom.

Replace window treatments. If your window coverings are looking old and outdated, consider replacing them with more modern-looking wooden blinds or fabric shades that are moisture resistant.
