Bringing a Splash Of Colour To Your Bathroom

Most bathrooms have to fulfill a number of different functions. They can be practical places as well as being venues for an evening of relaxing pampering.

But no matter how you use your bathroom, there is no denying that it is far more pleasant to step into a room that has been decorated thoughtfully and carefully. Could you say that about your bathroom?

Don’t worry if you can’t, because there are plenty of ways in which you can spruce things up without spending a lot of money in the process. And the addition of colour here and there can make an amazing difference.

For example, many bathrooms have a tiled splash back and the rest of the walls are painted. If this is the case you only have to spend a few pounds on a fresh new colour to brighten up the walls.

But even if your whole bathroom is tiled there are other ways you can add those colours. A bright new pair of curtains or a roller blind would fit in well, for example. Think about carrying those colours on to a new set of towels as well – thinking along these lines makes it easy to pull everything together so that it looks nice.

Another aspect worth considering is whether you want bright patterns or simply a plain block of colour. The latter often works more readily in a smaller space, as too much in the way of brightly coloured patterns can look too busy.

The other aspect you need to think about is accessories. Sometimes all you need to revitalise your bathroom is a range of new candles or other similar items that will enhance the room. And you can of course light them to create a completely new atmosphere when you are ready to have a nice soak in the bath!

Candles often work well grouped in collections. Buy several different heights and sizes of the same colour – one that will match your bathroom suite perhaps – and arrange them on a shelf, or on the corner of the bath. Candle safety is very important of course, so windowsills aren’t often a good idea – especially if the sun comes in that window very strongly.

There are a lot of other bath accessories available that can enhance your bathroom too. Toothbrush holders, soap dishes and lots of other items are often available in matching sets, so you just need to find one that is good for your bathroom.

Finally, don’t be afraid to be bold! You will be amazed how much difference a bright splash of red, or blue, or any other colour can make if you have the nerve to try it. It could make your bathroom into a totally new space to enjoy.
